ibeacon

Academy of Land Transport, based in Los Angeles, is set to test a new application of technology iBeacon ground services.

Sokolovsky Pauline gave a demonstration of the technology in the GBTA conference this week. The application uses the technology iBeacon inform the traveler of three key pieces of information: the location of the bag of a passenger, the driver location, and the side of the road the car is on.

The company will give a traveler a iBeacon to place on your luggage for part of monitoring the implementation, so that the bag can be monitored closely when waiting at the baggage claim.

The driver will also have a dedicated iBeacon traveler showing an image of the driver’s face and how close the driver is the current position. This eliminates any guessing game about the location of the driver.

The last feature is that the iBeacon allow the traveler to see which side of the car to enter – left or right.

There has been a lot of buzz, including here on Tnooz focuses on airlines and airports, with the potential to iBeacons trips. This is one of the emerging applications to simplify the travel experience using sensory awareness based on proximity.

Tnooz Sokolovsky spoke about the new iBeacon deployment, which is right on the way to being field tested.

Why iBeacons?

Traditional Location Aware Services using GPS technology stop working inside buildings. However, there are still many use cases where localization services make sense Aware inside buildings. Beacons is a technology that can provide these services when GPS signals are unavailable. Also see use case where tracking indicators combined with GPS may provide a solution more end to end.

What has been the customer response so far?

We brought three working prototypes of applications Travel Association Convention 2014 Global Business (GBTA) to test reception App primarily with ground transportation providers. We have received a very positive response.

We also spoke to other travel verticals we believe might be interested in this technology primarily for proximity marketing fulfillment and personalization but also to solve critical operations. In addition to the business, we see many applications of this technology for leisure.

How do drivers feel about it?

We have not field tested the app, but our experience in the trucking industry tells us that drivers will welcome the addition of this technology to help them achieve on-time performance – meet the passenger at the time and reach their destination on time.

Drivers are well aware that if they fail to performance time, which is the controller of the largest customer satisfaction in the vertical ground transportation, you will incur a defect of services, and this factor alone can significantly impact passenger perception of other aspects of service delivery controller and global travel experience.

How this technology to improve the experience of business?

Business travel itineraries often have demanding schedules that must be met to realize the full business value and objectives of the trip. Performance time in the ground transportation industry plays an integral part in meeting schedules.

What is the roadmap for product development?

Today we have a working prototype. In three to six months, we have completed a Release 1 that reflects a strategy of product development, marketing strategy and business plan that includes both business segments and leisure and many vertical travel markets that can benefit from this technology .

We initially focus on small and medium enterprises that may lack the infrastructure and applications to help them solve relevant problems. For these customers we see that the creation of a series of cloud and SaaS-based secure applications that provide a complete solution to your problem.

For Version 2, three to six months of product development will bring a number of services Beacon that are easy to integrate with workflow and more complex operations and evolved systems of large companies in the travel industry will also be interested in these solutions.
