While iPhone users have enjoyed new experiences based on location thanks to the first implementations of the technology iBeacon Apple, companies that deploy the bluetooth beacons are also collecting some valuable data about users. We previously reported how some are experiencing huge leaps in using applications and commitment since the deployment of ad beacons in grocery and retail stores, and today we have an idea of how the event organizers are using beacons collect valuable data on attendees. Aloompa, the company behind the iBeacons deployed in the recent Bonnaroo Music Festival, shared some numbers gathered at the concert would not have had without their deloyement iBeacon. While users of the application Bonnaroo benefited from proximity notifications based on events around the event, event organizers Aloompa and obtained new insights into how to improve the festival next year:

Aloompa_-_Bonnaroo_Beacon_Activity

Beacon Integration is important and helps to Navigation throughout the festival, as well as tennis allegiance to the different stages and artists during the festival. To Bonnaroo, the data collected is invaluable – from learning what people tend to do right off the bat to get into a festival, to see what steps tend to have loyal followers in common, the figures beacons can help shape and rationalize the festival in the future.

Aloompa tracked the most popular stage through iBeacons, the average length of past people in specific areas of the festival, the number of users was inside VIP and some things you can expect, as the number of notifications received on average each device. The image above shows a heat map of festival goers based on iBeacons.

Aloompa says one of his goals with the iBeacon deployment was also the hope that in the future users “relive their experiences in a new way” to lay the foundations and priority for the allocation of real-time crowd heat for unseen operational views. “-A” retrospective journey “- not just look at the pictures and tweets, but the chance to see where he was, when and who you were – creating a sense of community, even after an event has ended.”

Here are the numbers:

Popular Stage: What stage
Average length of VIP per person: 102.15 Minutes
How many users entered VIP Total: 1,980 people
Number of notifications received each device averaged 12.6 notifications
Total number of unique devices that experienced beacons: 20% of application installations
A total of 97,270 posts proximity to 20% of installed application is delivered over 4 days of the festival
Messages based on more than 811,961 user events observed

Since Apple introduced with iOS functionality iBeacon 7 several different use cases have appeared by letting shops, sports centers and others to interact with devices visitors through technology. Implementation support iBeacon allows iPhone users to receive relevant information through based on very specific location applications without a major coup device battery.

European airline easyJet is doing just that with the latest update to its app for smartphones. Available today, easyJet will now allow the user to receive the interactions within the application using the technology driven iBeacon Estimote “to improve the airport experience.” The airline says support for the use of new features supported in their iBeacon iPhone app will be supported on certain airlines through its network as it rolls out the function of this summer.

While several retailers, museums, sports stadiums, and others have begun supporting evidence iBeacon, easyJet is one of the first airlines to have seen adopt the new technology. The latest version of easyJet iPhone App is now available on the App Store ..

How would it feel to be a walking advertisement? If you are wearing a shirt with a company logo on it, that’s one thing. But his phone – in your pocket? That is quite another, and it is just what hailing a taxi company Taxi Magic is doing with its iOS app. A new version will be released on Thursday will make your code reference for the service to others, all using the Apple iBeacon technology.

These notifications will not open for everyone though, only users who have downloaded Taxi Magic application and have it be open, but have never ordered a walk. They do not have to write anything on it, and you get a $ 10 credit if you end up calling a taxi. Taxi Magic expect the function will reward existing users to make credit that they can use on future trips, while encouraging new users to pull the trigger on his first.
IBeacon Apple uses Bluetooth to push notifications to iOS devices, and was originally launched as a way for places – including retailers – to deliver short-range messages to people based on their proximity. So far, that resulted in everything from replacing signage, all the way to alerting passers according to local shops and sunglasses Ping your phone if they get out of range.

This implementation of iBeacon is just the beginning for Taxi Magic, says Jeff Pharr, who is director of mobile development company. The company is also exploring the use of iBeacons share fee payments, and putting iBeacons vehicle for people to pay for their rides using the application if that car hailed from the street. Meanwhile, Pharr see this current use of technology as something that people will blink for information sharing, as a kind of alternative to airdrop or Apple iMessage. “There would be a nominal increase in the use of the battery for the time it transmits, but this should be negligible as only being spread by the time it takes for a person to get a referral code,” he says.

Backed by Betaworks Estimote today announced a partnership with Knoll iBeacon platform to bring your company planning office space.

Estimote a YC alum Disrupt and provides a platform for developers to easily integrate iBeacon technology in existing applications and services, and NeoCon 2014 (trade conference for interior design) Knoll debuted one of the first commercial facilities iBeacon technology paired with the rebound application.

Knoll is a well established design office and company office space planning. The team realized that one of the fundamental difficulties with planning an office space is that there is a level of uncertainty around which the investment will pay off. Using Estimote iBeacon platform Knoll seven iBeacons planted in their showroom that will offer attendees the opportunity to look at occupancy levels in different seasons.

The idea is that customers can install Knoll iBeacons around their offices and discuss possible improvements to the space that would maximize efficiency. With the application of the rebound, these customers can ensure that any investment made to change their office space – maybe by splitting a large conference room into two – would actually be useful for the way the office functions .

The rebound application also adds layers of product information via a push notification sent from other iBeacons all space. In general terms, this is the most common technology we view iBeacon play out first. The expectation is that retailers will offer an application based on content and location within an actual store coupons, providing invaluable to the store, but begging for what is in it for the consumer advertised.

But Estimote has over 20,000 developers working on exciting ways to integrate technology iBeacon a way that is valuable to the end user. For example, Estimote imagines a world in which you do not stand in line at the airport and check in for your flight with an ID – the airport and have verified that it is on board a given flight.

The latter association with Knoll is another example of how technology can be used iBeacon for purposes other than those based on simple coupons location.

In the latest (NASDAQ: AAPL) Apple Inc. ‘s iBeacons the British Odeon Cinemas is trying to bring smartphones using one of the places where generally prohibited and considered quite clumsy, so the room cinema. The headlights, which transmit very specific location data via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) will be added to the properties of the cinema chain determine how actually improve the customer experience there.

According to an article in Marketing Week, Odeon and has an alignment of the different intended uses for geofencing devices. One of the most intriguing is a possible method to allow visitors to scan the theater movie posters on the walls. This would result in the application of Odeon to play trailers of the film in question and to show the moments when the film is shown.

For now, the company plans to use the beacons to the pre-show information and for post-show follow-up. However, according to spokesman Andrew Edge, there is a possibility that (AAPL) Apple iBeacons can be used within the film itself while a movie is playing, although the details of this remain vague.

Odeon Cinemas Sorry, Odeon is focusing on doing the pre-show larger and more satisfying whole theater experience through the use of part iBeacon and associated applications. Besides the possible scanning feature poster noted above, the application also alert to the theater ticket offers certain movies, and help them find they want to buy soft drinks, while going to see the movie you have chosen.

Odeon Cinemas is a company that was founded in 1930 on the premise of using the most advanced technology available to deliver movies to customers. The cutting edge technology of 1930 was very different from today, but the company clearly remains dedicated to its original concept, and that tests incorporating iBeacons in theaters. The company has a loyalty program highly developed film as well, which probably worked in iBeacon scheme.

Odeon Cinema The company already has apps for iPhone and Android phones. The free app lists Top Films Movies AZ, and Coming Soon. Provides details of the film for each film on the list, including genre, release date, times, trailers, and other information. Much more functionality will likely be added to the latest version of this application to support the relaunch of Apple (AAPL) iBeacon

Though Apple’s proximity technology the iBeacon has been proven quite useful in the retail industry and even in the arts, the technology hasn’t really caught on just yet in a massive way in other industries. In the meantime, some developers are happy to experiment with the technology in their own offices.

Austin, Texas-based development studio Chaotic Moon is using the iBeacon technology to keep tabs on their interns.

In an interview with FastCo, the studio revealed that they have two kinds of interns, the engineering interns who help with development and the gophers who help with general tasks. According to Chaotic Moon VP of Technology C.K. Sample, those interns can be hard to reach since they are not always on their computers and are not always available when they are needed.

To track their interns, Chaotic Moon built the Gopher Tracker, a network of iBeacons installed in strategic areas around their office. When synced with the interns’ smartphones, the Gopher Tracker lets management know exactly where their interns are and allows them to send a message to the “missing” intern.

According to Sample, projects like the Gopher Tracker are mostly for their own use internally, but sometimes they use the concept as a take-off point for something they can pitch to clients. Sample explained that the technology has many applications in the retail industry where iBeacon has been used to locate items and customers in the store. He added that the iBeacon technology can also be used to monitor retail staff.

Though the iBeacon technology hasn’t been used in other ways or in other industries, Sample isn’t worried about the idea and believes that developers just need to start playing with the technology and think bigger than what has already been done. He also believes that the more that companies start to dream up ways of incorporating the technology into their products and applications and create features that make consumers’ lives better or easier, the more the consumers will start adopting it.

A post on Chaotic Moon’s blog also discusses the potential of the technology in other areas outside of retail and mentions how it can be used in employee management and even communications or information management.

Apple Inc. ‘s (NASDAQ: AAPL) iBeacon technology is still the “King of the Hill” in regards to the beacons, but its success is spawning many imitators who are taking new devices in interesting directions. Although none of these companies poses no threat to the powerful Cupertino company, present an interesting portrait of how Apple acts as a trigger for innovation, opening new fields where other then pursue the possibilities that branch in all directions from the trunk of the main idea. “”

Some of the most notable examples include:

MTI, a Japanese company, offers a headlamp system that prevents Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), such as those used by iBeacons connections. Instead, their positioning beacons transmit signals through 20 kilohertz sound, too low for the human ear to detect but easily picked up by the microphones of smartphones, even in noisy conditions. This helps avoid the “Bluetooth congestion” caused by excess beacons operating in a confined area.

Slightly less accurate, i2Cat uses light emitting diodes (LEDs) to provide location services by ambient light sensor signaling a smartphone. This technique can not accurately determine the location of the iPhone within 3 feet, but can provide position data for less demanding applications.

Gimbal Geofence functions more like a traditional iBeacon, with BLE, but adds encryption schematics beacon. This blocks all applications from using a store beacons except for special applications store design themselves. Several different variants in the headlight design is also included in the range of gimbal, including those that focus on the performance of proximity, geofencing, and “detection of interests” which adjusts the headlamp experience to individual interests end users.

While smaller companies have come up with a smorgasbord of fascinating beacon variants and even some technologies that exceed the usefulness of iBeacon own, none of these new companies are likely to leave even come close to Apple (AAPL) of its position dominant in the world of information geofencing.

Signature Tim Cooks’ already secured the business of larger players such as American Airlines and Major League Baseball. After investing in iBeacons, these companies are not likely to discard their sunk costs for any alternative however brave and resourceful David trying to take the Cupertino Goliath. Moreover, Apple (AAPL) offers the inestimable advantage of being fully integrated remote “ecosystem” – as noted by American Airlines, the decision to use iBeacons was easy, since approximately 85% of the company’s customers used aviation support iOS mobile devices.

As iBeacons market becomes more and more competitive the prices start to drop. An example for that is the beacon in iblue beacon pack with 9 year battery life and 60 meter range. The high-end beacon was available by now only in limited quantities and for no less than $100 each, very interesting option as it can save a lot of on the maintenance.

We just spotted recently a huge discount available on that beacon, on sale now for only $59.95 offered by BUYibeacons.NET here: http://buyibeacons.net/index.php/9year-battery-ibeacons-long-life-beacons.html

The parameters are also very promising. 9 year iBlue beacon package, Water Resistant, 200 ft Range, SNF beacon, Security Encryption, RM CORTEX MO, TX output calibrated to +I- 1dBM, fully customizable, optional: Buzzer, LED.

There are also few other beacons at BUYibeacons.NET which seems to be the world’s first marketplace for ibeacons but we expect more like that to emerge soon.
